Faith Goals

We are moving steadily into month number two of 2011. How are those resolutions going for you? It’s important to set up some sort of goal for yourself on a consistent basis but your goals should be grounded in faith. If you want to succeed then place your goals at the foot of the cross and see exactly what happens! When you set a goal and place it in God’s hands amazing things can happen.

Goals grounded in faith are so big that they force you to depend on God. You let the size of your God determine the size of your goal! Maybe if all you have are a bunch of tiny goals in front of you, you need to evaluate how you view God.

Don’t set small goals and try to reach them quickly, set HUGE goals and spend the rest of your life achieving it! If you wouldn’t spend your whole life on something it probably isn’t worth 5 minutes of your time!! Dream great dreams for God and set a deadline for it!

1) Goal setting is a spiritual discipline.
God sets goals. He has goals for history, the church, and your life that haven’t yet happened.

And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth.
Ephesians 1:10 (NLT)

2) Goals focus your energy.

3) Goals stretch your faith.

4) Goals build your character!
While you are working on the goal, God is working on you!!

For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Philippians 2:13 (NIV)

5) Goals give you hope!
Goals help you move forward when you are struggling or you have to deal with loss in your life.

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Now that we see just how beneficial setting up faith goals are, next week we will discuss just what a godly goal is.

Have a great week and may God bless you!!
