Matthew 7:15-29

Matthew 7:15-29

“That which we strive to hold on to can be kept only by surrendering it to God.”

A Tree & Its Fruit
“Watch out”, Jesus says. Believe it or not there are people out there that want to deceive you. There are people out there under the label of being a follower of Christ but they are really not. Jesus warns us about them. How are we to tell them apart from real brothers and sisters in Christ? Don’t worry, Jesus tells us how.

We are to know a brother or sister in Christ by the fruit that they bear. A real follower of Christ should look different from the rest of the world. A real follower of Christ should emanate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). If you are not sure if someone is a Christian or not then search the Scriptures as to what a Christian should look like and do what we talked about yesterday; ask, seek, and knock. Diligently seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit before you follow someone. Nothing would be worse than hearing Jesus say, “Away from me, I never knew you!”

Jesus says that only those who do the will of the Father will enter the kingdom of Heaven. What exactly is the will of the Father? I would point you to one of my favorite verses, Micah 6:8 “And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

The Only Foundation on Which to Build
Jesus is THE Foundation on which we are to build our lives. He tells us plainly that if you hear His words and put them into practice then you are wise and you will have a secure foundation on which to live. Those who do not do as Jesus says are foolish and their foundation will be swept away from them. We are clearly seeing this in today’s world system. We are doing everything possible to remove God from our schools and our courts. We are trying desperately to even remove CHRIST from CHRISTMAS. We don’t want people to pray or utter the name of Jesus in public for fear of offending someone. What about offending God? The world system wants to take the foundation out from under us and then they wonder why things are as bad as they are and getting worse. Be prepared my brothers and sisters for a great crash (verse27).

It says that when Jesus finished His discourse that the crowds were amazed at His teaching. May we also be amazed at the authority of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Have a great day!

God bless!
